Australia’s Cotton Growers, Researchers and Shippers Come Together to Share Ideas
April 9, 2014

Responsible cotton production has been at the forefront of Australia’s cotton industry for two decades. Last week all of the major players came together to share research and data and discuss new opportunities in the marketing of cotton produced for the Cotton LEADS program.

“It’s critical that our industry stands united behind the Cotton LEADS program and that our growers and merchants understand what we’re trying to achieve,” said Cotton Australia CEO Adam Kay.

“As we embark on the next phase of our strategy, to engage Australian brand owners and retailers, we wanted to make sure that all the main players in the Australian cotton industry fully understand their roles in producing and promoting responsibly-produced cotton. We believe this will be an important ingredient in Cotton LEADS’ success as we continually look for new ways to improve,” Mr Kay said.

“Importantly, the R&D effort of the Australian cotton industry stands behind all of the work our growers are doing on farm to increase their efficiencies. Our workshop last week allowed growers to share ideas for future projects with our research partners to make sure we’re all heading in the same direction,” Mr Kay said.

Cotton Australia plans to host follow-up workshops in the future.
